Local Leaders Gather To Celebrate Louisville Hero Ray ‘Sir Friendly C’ Barker

Sir Friendly C

Ray “Sir Friendly C” Barker has served his local community in Louisville and beyond by lifting up and encouraging young people to avoid drugs and violence. Barker, a former Marine and retired police officer visited schools as Sir Friendly C during the ’90s, helped more than 1,000 children graduate through his after-school programs, and, in 2021, had a street named after him at the corner of Broadway and Cecil Ave.

Now, after his years of public service and working at a local Dollar Tree, where he helped save the store from closing, local leaders are gathering to celebrate his retirement. The public is invited to join the celebration at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, at Dollar Tree (2815 W Broadway).
