Feed Louisville has released their action plan to assist those in need of food during the cuts in SNAP benefits taking place starting Nov. 1. The Republican-controlled government nationally and at some state levels have refused to protect certain benefits and healthcare provisions leading to a prolonged government shutdown. Althought there are emergency funds for SNAP recipients during a shutdown, the Trump Administration has refused to release those.

Because of the lack of funding, many in America will be thrown into severe food insecurity. Organizations like Feed Louisville are working diligently to try to provide food supplies to those affected.

In Kentucky, well over half a million people rely on SNAP to feed themselves and their familes.

“At Feed Louisville, we rescue good food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to people who need it most,” the organization said in a release. “Now, we have to rescue more food — because we have to feed more people. Hunger doesn’t pause when funding does.”
