On Saturday and Sunday at the Speed Museum, there will be a special screening of “1-800-ON-HER-OWN,” a documentary about Grammy-winning spoken word and music artist Ani DiFranco. The film explores the life of the punk-folk icon who has fought for reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ visibility, and voter registration throughout her career.
As DiFranco approaches her mid-fifties, the film shares with her old fans someone familiar, and for new audiences introduces them to her work.
The showings are May 10, 11 at 3 p.m. at Speed Cinema (2035 S. 3rd St.). Tickets are $12/$8 for members.
