After a several-decade hiatus from cartooning and 13 years away from Louisville, Michael Ray returns to cartooning. Previously, he was published in the esteemed local alt-press, including CityPaper, MainStreet, Louisville Artist Magazine, and spent a handful of years at the University of Louisville Cardinal (starting in the mid-seventies “shudder”). He is unapologetically still a liberal hippie. His work will appear as the muse strikes him.
“Our President of War has started to muse about reinstating the military draft he paid his way out of decades ago,” said Ray. “On the plus side (such as it is), the protests starting in the sixties were spurred on by seeing the boots on the ground of their sons and helped to shorten the Vietnam War. Perhaps a new draft would finally spur the Congress and the public to take a stronger stand against our new “America Fights” policy around the world.”
