Jewish Louisvillians Call For Peace In Response To Iran Conflict

Over the weekend, the United States, in conjunction with Israel, launched attacks on Iran. A local group, Jewish Louisvillians for Peace, issued a statement regarding the military actions.

“For decades, Netanyahu has been looking for legal justification to attack the Iranian regime. Instead, in Trump, he found a partner who didn’t care about legality, the lack of imminent threat, or loss of civilian life, and the world is again mired in a war with no sensible end strategy.
“To be sure, the Iranian regime is brutal, oppressive, and criminal, but the notion that powerful outsiders can invade and bomb their way to peace comes from a hubris determined to repeat history’s deadliest mistakes rather than learn from them.

“So many innocents have already been slain in this war of choice. And for what? As Israel claims to kill for the Jewish people, antisemitism escalates, and Israelis spend their nights in bomb shelters. This Israeli regime continues to make the Jewish people less safe as it trades any hope of peace for violent conquest.

“The wars must end. Netanyahu must go.”

The group echoes the sentiment of many Louisvillians and other Americans. According to the New York Times, only 21% of Americans support the actions of Trump and Netanyahu regarding Iran.
